We are Ampersand!

Ampersand is an entertaining, energetic and ever evolving funk/soul/pop fusion band featuring two spectacular lead vocalists (Katie Brown & Isi Semmler) backed by a tight, innovative trio of keys, bass and drums (Jarrod Tutbury, Jed Green & Orlando Hamilton-Craig). Noosa/Sunshine Coast locals that have become their own second family in over 3 years of gigging, they effortlessly improvise and converse musically, creating a unique performance experience.

 

Built from scratch with nothing but the team’s varied skill sets and their unshakeable support of each other through thick and thin, this band’s spark has come from only ever having the humble goal of learning from their journey. Ampersand’s polished, engaging sound and infectious youthful energy allows them to adapt to any stage or venue and their original music has secured them residencies, festivals, support slots and headline gigs across Queensland.  

 

"Originality", Ampersand’s debut single, has reached over 35,000 streams in over 80 countries and repeated airplay on dozens of radio programs nationally. The highly anticipated “Entry Level”, the band’s debut EP, releases on the 6th June 2024. Their 2nd single, “Birthday Blues” released on the 29th February 2024 and their 3rd single, “Boy Bye” dropped on the 18th April.

 

Ampersand recorded these tracks at Yama Nui Studios in October 2023 thanks to the Federal Government’s Regional Arts Fund’s (RAF) Quick Response Grant administered by Flying Arts Alliance. Ampersand also received a Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) Grant from Noosa Council to fund 2024 recording projects, a music video and the launch event for their full EP.
